Over 940 students of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, have been defrauded of over N30m varsity school fees by a corps member serving in Zamfara State,identified as Fidelis Chalokwu. The students risked being restrained from sitting for the second semester examination. The affected students were considered ineligible by the bursary department of the university to sit for the examination because they had reportedly not yet paid their school fees. The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approve the sum of $1.1 billion for five African countries, including Nigeria, to fight climate change. The other countries are South Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia. Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, the President of AfDB, said on Wednesday in Lagos that African countries should address climate change challenges. The senate has confirmed, Stephen Ocheni and Suleiman Hassan, the two ministerial nominees sent by President Muhammadu Buhari. Ocheni, from Kogi state is replacing James Ocholi, a late minister of state for labour and productivity, who died in a road crash in March 2016. Hassan from Gombe is the replacement for Amina Mohammed, former minister of environment, who is currently at the United Nations. Former Niger state Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu and his Chief of Staff, Umar Nasko has been granted bail by a Minna High Court Judge, Justice Aliyu Mayaki. Aliyu and Nasko were arraigned last week by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a five count charge bothering on the misappropriation of over N4.5 billion belonging to the Niger state government.
