Activist lawyer, Femi Falana, has urged the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo not to sign the 2017 budget because it was illegally increased by the National Assembly. Parents of the Chibok girls have urged President Muhammadu Buhari, to pay an additional ransom to secure the release of the remaining abducted girls. The independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Mansur Ali of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the bye-election conducted in Mashi/Dutsi federal constituency. Prof Hudu Ayuba, the Returning Officer to the election, who announced the results in Mashi on Sunday, said APC won the election with 27,968 votes. He said Nazif Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 19,451 votes, while Kabir Abdullahi of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) polled 332 votes. The Jigawa Government has recruited 450 health workers to help in effective delivery of service in the heath sector in the state. Dr Kabir Ibrahim, the Executive Secretary, Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (JSPHCDA) confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Saturday. He said that those recruited included senior and junior community health extension workers, medical lab technicians and their assistants and environmental health workers. The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) says its Ethics and Professionalism Division received 136 petitions with claims that amounted to N27.6 billion from bank customers in 2016. The institute made this known in its 2016 Annual Reports and Accounts signed by the Registrar, Mr Seye Awojobi. The report was released on Saturday in Lagos. It said that 79 cases were fully resolved out of the 136 petitions, translating into a total refund of three billion naira.
