Eight killed in Senegal stadium collapse

A wall collapsed at a football stadium in Senegal on Saturday, killing eight people and injuring almost 90. It fell in after fighting began between rival fans and police responded with tear gas, with a stampede ensuing. Stade de Mbour were playing Union Sportive Ouakam at the Demba Diop stadium in the capital Dakar. The country has suspended all sporting and cultural events for the rest of the month. Cross River monthly IGR rises to N3bn

The Cross River Police Command has confirmed that nine people died in a fire outbreak that occurred at Linc Oil and Gas tank farm on Sunday morning. Hafiz Inuwa, the State Commissioner of police, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria at the scene of the event, confirmed the figure. The Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Bayo Onanuga, has warned bloggers and other online publishers illegally using NAN news materials to stop forthwith or face sanctions. Mr. Onanuga, who gave the warning over the weekend in Abuja at a meeting with marketing staff of the agency, said that NAN has begun compilation of a list of culprit bloggers which would be forwarded to Google for redress and sanctions. Two popular Nigerian actors, Bolaji Amusan, popularly called Mr Latin, and Odunlade Adekola were attacked by armed robbers on Saturday night.
