The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bayelsa says it will soon inaugurate ‘Operation show vehicle papers and driving licence’ to clampdown on motorists using fake documents. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said Nigeria lost N2 billion to electronic fraud(e-fraud) in 2016, describing it as the biggest challenge facing the electronic payment sector and needs to be collectively tackled by customers, banks and financial sector regulators. CBN Director, Banking & Payments System Department, ‘Dipo Fatokun, disclosed this at the weekend in Lagos, stressing that fraud must adhere to strict rules and regulations and educate the public to combat fraud. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers on Monday relieved all his Special Advisers of their appointments except one. A statement by Mr Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, said only the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Bishop Winston Iwo was retained. No explanation has been given by the governor why he sacked the Special Advisers. The governor had earlier sacked the state’s Executive Council on June 24. Over 50 people have been killed in clashes between ethnic groups in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, three local aid workers said on Sunday, the largest death toll in fighting between the two groups for months. North Korea has vowed to retaliate and make “the US pay a price” for drafting fresh UN sanctions over its banned nuclear weapons programme. The sanctions, which were unanimously passed by the UN on Saturday, were a “violent violation of our sovereignty,” the official KCNA news agency said. Separately, South Korea says the North has rejected an offer to restart talks, dismissing it as insincere. The sanctions will aim to reduce North Korea’s export revenues by a third. Lagos lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has called on the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to return the entire pension he received since 2007 from Kwara State government to the state. Falana also urged Saraki to relinquish the house the state government bought for him in Abuja.
