Raila Odinga: Voting on Tuesday

Kenya’s National Super Alliance, NASA and its presidential candidate, Raila Odinga have slammed the results being declared by the country’s electoral commission as illegal and fraudulent. They made their positions known in separate reactions today. The coalition, which boasts a 15 million membership strength said the results being streamed on the website of IEBC are not supported by any evidence of the tally of votes. It said its representatives had met the commission, IEBC, on the ‘sham’ results being declared, but the commission has not stopped the tallying. Three men, accused of cyber crime and theft of N9.2million, property of Lagos State House Speaker, have been sent to Ikoyi Prison by a Federal High Court in Lagos, after they were docked today. The men, Frank Nwokobia, 27, Ezeoke Kanayochukwu, 25, and Godwin Essien, 28, were charged by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), of the Lagos State Police Command, Panti-Yaba,of the Nigerian Police Force. Rescue workers continue operations after a fresh 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Venezuela days after deadly twin earthquakes.

A 6.5-magnitude earthquake rattled southwest China late Tuesday, killing at least five people, with up to 100 feared dead, according to a government estimate. Five people died and more than 60 were injured in the quake, the official Xinhua news agency said, including 30 who were in critical condition. But China’s National Commission for Disaster Reduction estimated that as many as 100 people may have perished, based on 2010 census data of the mountainous, sparsely populated region. According to Abilene police, Kanyoni Sedekiya, 20, was armed with a gun at his apartment complex early Friday when he argued with his roommate, whom he then bound as he demanded money.
