The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, on Monday disclosed that two suspected cases of Monkey Pox were being investigated in the state. Idris, who made the disclosure at a news conference in Lagos, said, ”though no confirmed case has been recorded. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the suspected cases of monkey pox outbreak was first recorded on Sept. 22 in Bayelsa. According to a family member Bem Adoor in Makurdi, Malu was said to have died early Monday in a Cairo hospital. The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has dragged Center Point Network Limited to court over non-compliance with contributory pension funds for its workers. The suit was brought before Justice Edith Agbakoba of the National Industrial Court, Abuja, on Monday. Domestic airlines in Nigeria lifted a total of 3,287,310 passengers in the first six months of this year. The figure, however, represents a 21 per cent decrease, compared to the 4,193,862 passengers airlifted within the period last year. According to the Consumer Protection Directorate of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA ), the decrease is due to the current economic hardships in the country, which is affecting air travels adversely. Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said on Monday he had not given any thought to contesting the country’s next presidential election in 2019. The Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti was on Sunday shut indefinitely following violent protest by students over the death of two of them. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that trouble began on the institution’s campus late Friday, when two of the students reportedly complained of malaria. They were said to have been rushed to the Polytechnic Health Centre for treatment, but their condition later became worse. They died in the early hours of Saturday. The national Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has proposed a seven-point agenda, which he said, would revive the country’s troubled economy and drastically reduce her dependence on petro-dollars. Tinubu explained that the development of a national infrastructure plan; the return of commodity exchange boards and the promotion of government-backed housing programmes were important measures that could help to reposition the national economy.
