The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to follow the example of one its leaders and former deputy senate president, Senator Ibrahim Mantu. Mantu in a recent TV programme confessed the he took part in rigging elections for the PDP. Now the APC wants the PDP to borrow this example and confess to their sins against the country instead of indulging in name calling. The Police in Taraba state have saved one Alhaji Yakubu Atiku from kidnappers and killed five suspects set to perpetrate the act. The suspects had stormed Atiku’s home in Garba-Chede, Gassol Local Government Area of the state late on Friday night, when the police were called in. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, the police killed five of the attackers, the spokesman of the command, ASP David Misal, said at a news conference on Saturday in Jalingo. Misal said:

Romelu Lukaku scored his 100th Premier League goal as Manchester United strengthened their grip on second place and dented Swansea’s survival hopes. Lukaku gave United an early lead when he collected Alexis Sanchez’s pass to fire in with the aid of a deflection. A white police officer who shot and killed a black man in the US state of Louisiana has been dismissed from the force. A second white officer involved in the deadly shooting of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge in 2016 has been suspended. Video footage showing the officers holding down Mr Sterling, 37, as one fired his gun, sparked days of protests in the city. Earlier this week it was announced the pair would not face criminal charges. Mr Sterling was shot after a resident reported being threatened by a black man selling CDs. Three South Korean workers have been abducted in the waters off Ghana and were reportedly steered towards Nigerian waters. South Korea government says it’s trying to track down the presumed kidnappers who may have abducted three South Korean nationals who had been working on a fishing boat in waters off Ghana. Seoul’s Foreign Ministry said Saturday that the supposed kidnappers appear to have hijacked the boat on Tuesday and steered it toward the waters of Nigeria before using a speed boat to move the three South Koreans elsewhere. Nigeria’s commercial city, Lagos has been named among the top ten fastest growing cities in the world, according to Berlin-based chart-making website Datawrapper.
