The Nigeria Police Force said it would arraign Senator Dino Melaye and the four suspects rearrested for alleged conspiracy and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms at the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi on May 10. The suspects are: Kabiru Seidu, 31, alias Osama, Nuhu Salisu, 25, alias Small, Musa Mohammed, 27, alias Iko and Emmanuel Audu, 26. The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday said it recovered more than 200 illegally acquired firearms from individuals and suspected hoodlums in the last seven months. The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edgal Imohimi, made the disclosure at a news conference in Lagos. Imohimi said that the firearms were recovered from suspected hoodlums and those that embraced the 21 days grace period given by the Inspector-General of Police to submit their illegally possessed firearms. About 4.54 million trees have been planted and maintained in Katsina State under the Improved Fuel Wood Balance project supported by the European Union, EU. The Project Manager, Dr Chris Udokang said the initial target was to plant 5.5 million trees. The US justice department is to set increase pressure on immigration judges in an attempt to speed up the processing of immigration cases, US media report. Judges will need to clear at least 700 cases a year in order to receive a “satisfactory” performance rating. But critics warn the plan could see hearings rushed through the courts in a move that may compromise due process. An estimated 600,000 people are waiting to have their immigration cases heard in US courts.
