Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja, on Monday admitted four members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to bail in the sum of N10 million each. Justice Nyako, admitted Bright Chimezie, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, David Nwawuisdi and Benjamin Madubugwu to bail. Chimezie, Onwudiwe, Madubugwu and Nwawuisi, aged between 33 and 45, are facing three-count charge of conspiracy to commit treasonable felony and illegal possession of firearms. An Igbosere High Court in Lagos on Monday remanded a 48-year-old female lawyer, Udeme Otike-Odibi, at Kirikiri prison for killing her 52-year-old husband, Symphorosa Otike-Odibi, and also chopping off his penis. Udeme, 47, was arraigned by the Lagos State Government on a two-count charge of murder and misconduct with regard to a corpse. She however pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Nigerian police have deployed Special Intervention Force led by Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of operations, to restore peace to troubled Plateau state. Mr. Jimoh Moshood, Force Public Relations Officers, said on Monday in a statement, that the special force had been mandated to restore lasting peace to troubled Barkin-Ladi, Riyom, Jos South local governments where scores of people were killed at the weekend and other flash points. A Catholic priest in Kenya has been suspended from leading public mass for a year because he rapped during sermons, his superior has told the BBC. Father Paul Ogallo, who was nicknamed “Sweet Paul”, had to “choose between being a rapper and a priest”. The entire police force of the Mexican town of Ocampo has been detained on suspicion of involvement in the murder of a mayoral candidate. Fernando Ángeles Juárez, 64, was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Thursday outside one of his properties. More than 100 politicians have been killed across Mexico ahead of general elections on 1 July. Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan has won a new five-year term after securing outright victory in the first round of a presidential poll. Election authority chief Sadi Guven said the president had “received the absolute majority of all valid votes”. State media reports put Mr Erdogan on 53% with 99% of votes counted, and his closest rival Muharrem Ince on 31%.
