Court discharges, acquits Onnoghen of false assets declaration conviction

In the heat of controversy over the suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, reports say that the National Judicial Council (NJC) will hold an emergency on Monday on the issue. Onnoghen was reported to have called off the meeting which was to hold last week. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has assured supporters that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would jail more corrupt Nigerians, if re-elected. Osinbajo made the promise on Sunday during his house-to-house campaign in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State. NAN reports that traffic was at standstill as thousands of residents, including party faithful, market persons and the Arewa Community, trooped out to receive the vice president during the Sunday visit.
