19 year-old Nigerian artist, Emediong Uduak Ikoko has unveiled a Fela-inspired painting to celebrate the strength of Nigerians. In May, her painting of music legend, ‘Lagbaja’ has become the first African work to be displayed at the Cyprus Modern Art Museum. Emediong is also the youngest artist and only African to have her work exhibited at the museum, which is the largest in the Mediterranean region. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the military to hunt bandits and eliminate them wherever they find them. A statement from Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, quoted Buhari as giving the directive while addressing officers of the 17th Army Brigade and Nigerian Air Force 213 operational base in Katsina on Saturday. There have been reports of deaths in recent months mostly as a result of banditry and attacks involving herdsmen and farmers. A total of 14 ships carrying various products are at Apapa and Tin-Can Island Ports waiting to berth, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has said in its daily publications on Saturday in Lagos. It said five of the vessels contained petrol, while the remaining nine ships would berth with container and general cargo.
