Some Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives are raiding the Epe residence of immediate past Lagos Governor Akinwumi Ambode. According to online medium, TheCable, the raid has been confirmed by EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade. Justice Chuka Obiozor had earlier granted EFCC’s ex-parte application to freeze two bank accounts pending conclusion of investigation and possible prosecution of the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Adewale Adesanya. Afropop star, Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid has become the first African artist to hit eight million monthly streams on Spotify. Spotify is an online, music streaming platform that pays royalties based on the number of artists streams as a proportion of total songs streamed. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that streaming records revealed Wizkid’s popularity on the platform on Monday. The previous record was held by Congolese rapper and singer, Maitre Gims. Kwara state governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Monday locked out scores of civil servants outside the main gate of the old secretariat in Ilorin, the state capital, for late coming. The governor told them that late coming was unhelpful for government’s business in the 21st century. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue says the State Government is owing over N22 billion as gratuity of the state’s workers. Ortom stated this on Monday during the inauguration of the Chairman and members of the State Pension Commission in Makurdi. He disclosed that he inherited N18 billion gratuity liability in 2015, and that because of paucity of funds to upset the debt coupled with additional number of retired workers overtime, the debt had risen to N22 billion. The Federal Government says that Cross River State has benefited immensely from the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP). Justice Bibiye, Communications Manager, National Social Investment Office (NSIO), in a statement on Monday in Abuja, said the multiplier effect of the social intervention programmes and the potential for creating wealth could best be imagined. …Wants them tried by German laws The Nigerian Embassy in Berlin has called on German authorities to unmask the identity of and try the August 17 attackers of Senator Ike Eweremadu in Nuremberg, Germany. In a statement issued on Monday by the embassy, it also demanded that the attackers be tried in accordance with German laws. The UN secretary general, António Guterres reaffirmed its demand for the protection of humanitarians by world leaders and parties to conflicts around the world. Babatunde Fowler, chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has responded to a letter by the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, explaining that revenue generation under him between 2016 to 2018 was higher than 2012 to 2014. Fowler’s response coincides with a press statement from the Presidency that he is not under any investigation.
