A Federal High Court in Lagos, on Tuesday, further adjourned trial until Dec. 2, of a former Minister of State for Finance, Nenandi Usman, and others, over N4.6 billion money laundering charges. Usman is standing trial alongside a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, Yusuf Danjuma, a former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), and a company, Jointrust Dimension Ltd. The defendants were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on 17-counts. They had each pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail respectively. The UN and European Union (EU) plan to spend 10 million dollars every year over the next four years to end all forms of violence against women and girls in Nigeria. Mrs Hadiza Aminu, EU, UN Spotlight Initiative Coordinator, said this in Kano during a media dialogue Stoplight Initiative on ending violence against women and girls in Nigeria. Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has relieved the state Head of Service (HOS), Mr Mohammed Hassan, of his appointment. Alhaji Usman Shuwa, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), made the disclosure in a statement on Tuesday in Maiduguri. Thirteen French soldiers have been killed in a helicopter crash during an operation against jihadists in Mali, the French president’s office said. The accident happened on Monday evening, a statement said. French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his “deep sadness” over the incident.
