A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ebute Meta, Lagos on Friday, ordered that two men who allegedly robbed and murdered the wife of the Managing Director of Maersk, be in Kirikiri Correctional Centre, pending legal advice. The police charge Olamilekan Oke and Adeyinka Akande, both electricians, with five counts  bordering on conspiracy, murder, attempted murder and theft. Chief Magistrate A.O. The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has called on herbal medicine dealers in Yobe, to obtain product registration with the agency to safeguard public health. The State Controller of the agency, Mr Lawan Dadingelma, made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Friday in Damaturu. Dadingelma disclosed that registration of herbal products would facilitate comprehensive laboratory analysis to certify that herbs and other products were good for consumption. A massive explosion rocked a northwest Houston neighborhood and the blast was felt all across the region Friday morning. It happened around 4:25 a.m. and originated in the 4500 block of Gessner Rd. It’s not clear what exactly happened but fire and a large debris pile can be seen in the area between Gessner and Steffani Lane in the Westbranch neighborhood. Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has put all airline operators, Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) and Aerodrome Operators on alert over the outbreak of Coronavirus. The General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr Sam Adurogboye made this known in a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday. The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) says it is working with the Federal Ministry of Health and other agencies to intensify efforts to control Lassa Fever in the country, as well prevent any case of the coronavirus in the country. The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is fuming after Facebook deleted the page of its controversial leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The group’s media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful said the action was taken by Facebook Nigeria to diminish the growing popularity of Kanu. China has widened a lockdown in Hubei province – the centre of the coronavirus outbreak – as the death toll climbed to 26. At least 10 cities in the central Chinese province, which has a population of 60 million, have travel restrictions in force. On Thursday, a coronavirus patient died in nearby Hebei province – making it the first death outside Hubei. Another death was later confirmed in the remote province of Heilongjiang. On Thursday, the Department of State announced amendments to some visa regulations aimed at curtailing what is known as “birth tourism’’ in the United States.   Birth tourism is a practice whereby pregnant foreign nationals travel to the U.S. to give birth for the purpose of obtaining American citizenship for the child. The updated rules, which will start on Friday, apply to pregnant applicants for B-1 visa, meant for business visits, and B-2 visa for pleasure, tourism and medical visits. Nigeria has dropped two places on the 2019 corruption perception index published by Transparency International despite government’s effort to stem it. According to the report which was released on Thursday, Nigeria is now ranked 146 out of the 180 countries considered. The country scored 26 out of 100 points, a drop from the 27 points that it has maintained since 2017. In the 2018 index, Nigeria rose by four places on the index from 148 to 144.
