    APPLY: 15,000 Nigerians to get free TVET Skills by December 2022

    The Federal Government has approved the implementation of Project T-MAX, a Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme, to train 15,000 Nigerians across seven-pilot states.

    The pilot states picked for the programme are Edo, Enugu, Gombe, Kaduna, Lagos, Nasarawa and Ogun. Participants will be trained for free.

    The portal is now open for Lagos and Ogun residents and they can register on the T-MAX website registration closes on September 16, 2022.

    Project T-MAX is a Technical & Vocational Education & Training (TVET) Programme, which has been approved by the National Steering Committee on National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) as one of the core interventions to achieve the Federal Government’s goal of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030.

    The FG says the objective is to deploy a transparent, functional and sustainable TVET Framework that will equip Nigerians with technical & vocational skills they need to be self-employed and self-reliant.

    The implementation agency, Industrial Training Fund (ITF) listed the following skills as part of TVET.

    They are: ICT, Automobile, Furniture Works, Welding & Fabrication, Plumbing & Fittings, Tiling & Interlocking, Electrical Installation, Solar Installation & Maintenance and Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Repairs.

    Others are Photography & Cinematography, Tailoring/Fashion Design, Beauty Care & Cosmetology, Leather Works and Agripreneur/Agro-Packaging.

    The requirement to qualify are that the applicant must be between 18-35 and must be a resident in the state.

    Additional requirements are that they must be available to attend the full course of the programme and must be able to read and write in English.

    “All successful participants will be issued Certificates of Proficiency,” a statement of the T-MAX website said.

    A selected number of successful participants will be placed in three-month internships with private and public sector organizations.

    “Starter packs will be given to participants who fulfil the necessary requirements – as we have limited numbers,” T-MAX said..
