    APC to postpone NEC meeting

There are claims that the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by Abdullahi Ganduje, may postpone the National Executive Committee’s initial meeting until 2025.

According to APC Secretariat sources, the reason for the delay is President Bola Tinubu’s hectic schedule and the fact that he has not returned to the nation.

“As we speak, Mr. President is not back in the country. This was also the reason we had to annul the initial September dates we chose for the NEC meeting.

“But whichever way, the chances of holding a NEC meeting this year are no longer feasible. It is just two months until the end of the year. Again, we can’t fix it around the festive period in December. Perhaps in 2025, but 2024 is gone for sure,” a source noted.

Concerns were raised only two months after the ruling APC announced an indefinite postponement of its National Caucus and National Executive Committee, which were originally slated for September 11 and 12, respectively.

Although no reason was offered for the suspension of the meetings, Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary, claimed that a new date would be announced shortly.

Our correspondent, however, learnt that the two engagements were cancelled due to Tinubu’s absence.

When asked for comment, the APC’s National Deputy Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, told our correspondent that no new date had been set.

Duru declined to say whether the party would conduct another meeting in 2024.

He said, “No new date has been fixed. For us, we are not aware of any new date. As of now, the postponement still stands.”

Also, the national legal adviser of the APC, Abdulkareem Kana, shared the same sentiment.

“We can’t say when the next NEC meeting will be held. I am aware a new date has not been fixed.

“For us at APC, we can’t do anything until we get a new date from the President. He is expected back in the country any moment from his travel,” he stated.
