    Kenny Okolugbo, former Delta State Commissioner and current Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), seeking an urgent investigation into what he describes as a coordinated cyberattack and defamation campaign aimed at damaging his reputation.

    In the petition, Okolugbo alleged that his verified X (formerly Twitter) account was hacked and used to disseminate false statements attributed to him.

    He stated that the unauthorized posts were subsequently amplified by three prominent social media influencers — Tunde Ednut (@mazitundeednut), Rufai Oseni (@ruffydfire), and Adeola Fayehun (@adeolafayehun) — who, according to him, added further fabrications, including claims of phone cloning, voice manipulation, and fictitious meetings in London.

    “These allegations are not only untrue but impossible based on verified evidence,” he stated in his petition.

    He further noted the suspicious uniformity in the posts circulated by the influencers, alleging a coordinated attack.

    “Most disturbing is that the fabricated post was simultaneously circulated and embellished by these influencers using identical language and coordinated timing, pointing to a syndicated disinformation campaign,” Okolugbo added.

    He claimed that the misinformation campaign was orchestrated to give credibility to allegations made against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan. Okolugbo stressed that the embellished claims were not part of the initial hacked post, indicating a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and damage his public image.

    In his plea to the Nigeria Police Force, Okolugbo requested the following:

    “A full-scale investigation into the hacking and impersonation of his verified social media account, citing violations under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015;

    “Identification and prosecution of individuals responsible for the forgery, defamation, and spread of malicious content;

    “Preservation of all relevant digital evidence from social media platforms and third-party service providers for forensic analysis.”

    He emphasized the matter’s importance, describing it as one of “significant public interest and personal concern,” and urged the police to act “swiftly and decisively.”

    To support his claims, Okolugbo said he had enclosed travel documents confirming that he had not been to London or traveled outside Nigeria in 2025. He noted his last visit to London was on November 5, 2024, and insisted that he had no meetings in the UK. He also attached printouts of the alleged defamatory posts to aid police investigations.

    As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force has yet to officially respond to the petition.
