    Governor’s aide, State CID officers, Chinese arrested for stealing rail tracks in Nasarawa

    The Nasarawa State Police Command on Thursday paraded Yusuf Mada, Special Adviser on Infrastructure to Governor Abdullahi Sule and 16 others over vandalization of railway tracks and slippers in Lafia and Keana Local Government Areas of the state.

    The Commissioner of police, Emmanuel Bola Longe who paraded the suspects in Lafia at state police Headquarters explained that the suspects had been in the business of buying and selling railway tracks and slippers from other suspected vandals but luck ran out of them when the Police Command got informed of the criminal act and mobilized for their arrest.

    Samuel Asoloko – a personnel of the Nigerian Legion, Inspr. Richard Joseph attached to State CID, Lafia, Sgt. Mali Peter attached to State CID, Lafia, Ibrahim Amegwa Usman – a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps attached to Arm Squad, NSCDC’s, Command Headquarters, Lafia, were among the 16 arrested for the crime.

    Mr. Marra Thai – a Chinese national and the Manager of Yong Xing Steel Company, Tunga Maje, FCT Abuja, was also arrested for receiving the vandalized railway slippers.

    His lawyer, Nathaniel Oba, had allegedly offered N600,000 to bribe the investigating team of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to secure the release of his client after he was arrested.

    CP Longe added that investigations revealed that vandalizing railway tracks/slippers is a grand conspiracy involving high net worth individuals who act as sponsors and drivers of various syndicates.
