The Accord Party’s screening committee has cleared Governor Ademola Adeleke to contest in the party’s governorship primary, which is taking place in Osogbo on Wednesday.
The development was confirmed in a statement by Ibe Thankgod, the party’s National Organizing Secretary and chairman of the screening committee.
According to Thankgod, Adeleke met all of the nomination standards and was consequently cleared as the party’s lone candidate for governor.
He also referred to the governor as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant” for the party.
The committee chairman gave Adeleke a certificate of clearance.
In response, the governor congratulated the screening committee and party leadership, stating that he was prepared to lead the Accord Party to victory in 2026.
“I am ready for the primary, and I am ready for the general elections.
‘We are winning by God’s grace,” he was quoted as saying.
Adeleke disclosed his defection to the Accord Party on Tuesday night, after leaving the People’s Democratic Party on December 2.
