Three alleged Internet fraudsters were rescued from a crowd on Thursday, according to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, in the Lokogoma neighborhood of Abuja.
Residents of the area descended on the suspects, Francis Emeka Noah, Wua Ikyer, and Bokos Terkula, according to Command spokeswoman Josephine Adeh, who announced the development in a statement. She said they allegedly “attempted to lure and defraud a female Point-of-Sale (POS) operator around Peace Court Estate, along Lokogoma Road, Abuja.”
The three suspects were reportedly saved after swift police intervention and are currently being held in prison.
Adeh claimed that Babaji Sunday, the FCT’s police commissioner, had advised the populace against applying jungle justice.

Residents were urged by the police commissioner to file complaints so that justice might be served legally and promptly.

The police commissioner emphasized that carrying out “jungle justice” is illegal and is thus punished by law.
He did, however, reassure them that a thorough inquiry was being conducted to ascertain the facts of the situation.
