The abductors of two Federal University students in Wukari, Taraba State, are seeking a N50 million ransom in exchange for their release.

Mrs. Ashu Agbu, the institution’s Head of Information and Protocol Unit, revealed this to journalists over the phone on Sunday.

“The abductors revealed that they came for the owner of the eatery and not his staff and will return to get him.

“They are demanding a ransom of N50 million to free the two students. Since the incident, security agencies and youths in the area have been combing the surrounding forests and bush paths to apprehend the kidnappers and will not relent until the students are rescued alive and safe,” she said.

Ashu intimated that an enlarged conference with security agencies, as well as representatives from local, state, and federal governments, will take place on Sunday to find a long-term solution to the institution’s insecurity.

According to the reports, around 90% of the institution’s students and staff live outside of the campus.

It should be noted that the two students from Federal University, Wukari, were kidnapped by the abductors on April 3 at around 10 p.m. in a shop near the school.

The two abducted students, Joshua Sardauna of the Economics Department and Obianu Elizabeth of the Microbiology Department, returned to rewrite their exams due to a carryover from the previous session.
