Dr Caro Nwosu, a female candidate from the African Action Congress, has officially declared her intention to run for president in 2023.

Nwosu, the president of the Voice for Senior Citizens of Nigeria, made the announcement on Thursday at the Nigerian National Merit Award House’s Symposium Hall in Abuja.

Nwosu stated in her declaration that her government would give unwavering support to Nigeria’s oneness and unity, and that she is committed to building a united, peaceful, and harmonious nation capable of accommodating and catering for all of its citizens, as well as strong enough to be the world’s black and African superpower.

Nwosu stated that she will address the difficulties that have hampered the country’s efforts to build a strong and stable federation and realise its full potential.

“I will put serious checks and balances in place to promote accountability, entrench the rule of law, nurture political parties to grow, promote transparent and credible elections, and growth in democracy,” she stated.

She also promised to give 35% of government appointments to Nigerian women, as well as youths and those with disabilities, to government positions by an act of parliament.

In early January in Lagos, Okunnu-Lamidi became the first female to express her interest in competing for Nigeria’s top seat.
