A former councilor of Sabon Gida ward in Zamfara state has been murdered by unknown gunmen in his residence on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the victim, Hon. Farouq Hassan was killed few minutes after he got back home that night.
It was also gathered from sources close to the family that the 38-year-old politician was told to turn to his back before the assailants shot him twice in the head.
The gunmen did not abduct anyone after killing him.
It can be recalled that Chronicle NG reported the abduction of the wife and eight-month-old baby of another ex-councilor, Babangida Damba in the state, less than 24 hours before the latest incident. Their whereabouts are still unknown.
The Zamfara state police authorities were yet to confirm the assassination as at the time filing this report.
