    Nigeria announces 143 new coronavirus cases

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 143 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Monday.

    The 143 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 54,008.

    The NCDC also announced the discharge of 125 patients from isolation centers across the country with no new death reported.

    Plateau state again reported the highest number of cases for the day with 35 new cases while Kaduna recorded 21 cases.

    Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported 19 new confirmed cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 18138.

    Ebonyi state reported 11 new cases, Oyo recorded 11 new cases while Abia, Anambra and FCT recorded 8, 7 and 7 new cases respectively.

    Other states are Rivers-7, Kaduna-6, Ondo-5, Kwara-3, Bauchi-1, Benue-1 and Edo-1.

    NCDC reports that there are 53,865 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 41,513 discharged and 1,013 deaths.
