The Allied People’s Movement (APM) linked with Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state has formally adopted President Muhammadu Buhari as its candidate in the 2019 election.

Amosun and the chairman of the party, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle were at Aso Rock on Monday to present a declaration formally adopting Buhari as the party’s candidate.

In Ogun state, Amosun’s ‘consensus’ candidates for the governorship election and state assembly elections are contesting under the banner of APM.

However, Amosun is contesting for the Ogun central senatorial seat as a candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Despite remaining in the APC, most of his loyalists have joined APM to actualise their political goals for 2019.

Amosun has also openly stated that he will not back the APC governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun after his preferred candidate Adekunle Akinlade lost out in the governorship primary.

He has since been unveiled as the governorship candidate of the APM in Ogun state.

It is however interesting to note that the APC has charged Amosun with anti-party activities despite openly parading himself as the leader of the newly formed party.

He also led to the party chairman to meet President Buhari.
