The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has introduced QR codes to help eligible voters locate designated Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection centres ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative provides voters with an additional way to identify their designated collection centres by scanning QR codes available through the commission’s official website and social media platforms.
Speaking at a press conference at INEC’s Lagos headquarters, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami, urged eligible voters to collect their PVCs, verify their registration details and obtain election-related information from official sources.
Salami emphasised the importance of voter participation as the commission intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
INEC said preparations were also progressing in other operational areas, including the procurement and testing of voter accreditation devices, improvements to election-result transmission systems, logistics planning, and the recruitment and training of election personnel.
The commission added that it was strengthening its operational readiness to support a smooth electoral process.
The introduction of QR codes forms part of INEC Lagos’s efforts to improve access to voter information, encourage eligible voters to verify their registration details and ensure they collect their PVCs before election day.
