A second Hull City player has been caught up in a car crash on the same road close to the club’s training ground, only weeks after teammate Sorba Thomas was involved in a similar incident.
A black Mercedes, which the BBC understands is owned by 24-year-old Hull City midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath, crashed on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, East Yorkshire.
Photos taken at the scene revealed the car resting on its side following the crash, which took place at roughly 08:30 GMT. A local resident informed the BBC that the Mercedes had also hit her car and caused damage to it.
Hull City stated the club was “aware of images circulating on social media following a road traffic accident near the training ground” and confirmed that “no one was harmed in the incident.”
This incident occurred roughly three weeks after Thomas was involved in a crash along the same road.
A resident named Paul Nickerson told the BBC that he heard the noise and showed up soon after the vehicle had flipped over.
“If it had happened a minute before, my wife was walking down the road with our kids taking them to school. So, it’s really worrying,” he said.
Tracy Evans, another resident who has lived on the road for 19 years, said she had been requesting a reduction in the speed limit for roughly a decade.
She noted that children and parents were using the road at the time of the most recent incident, and she urged that measures be introduced “to avoid something happening in the future.”
