Hull City have confirmed that Nigerian winger David Akintola’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent, allowing him to make a permanent move to Cypriot club Omonoia FC.
The 30-year-old joined the Tigers from Turkish Süper Lig team Çaykur Rizespor in August 2025 and appeared 21 times during the 2025/26 season.
Akintola scored once and assisted twice as Hull City earned promotion to the Premier League.
He made his Hull debut as a substitute in the Tigers’ 3-2 home win over Oxford United in August 2025 and continued to play throughout the season.
The Nigerian also appeared in Hull’s FA Cup and Carabao Cup campaigns.
Prior to moving to England, Akintola played for Turkish clubs Adana Demirspor and Hatayspor, as well as clubs in Norway and Cyprus.
Hull City acknowledged the winger for his contributions while at the MKM Stadium.
“We would like to thank David for his efforts throughout his time at the MKM Stadium and wish him well for the future,” the club said in a statement on its X handle on Thursday.
Akintola’s departure will allow him to return to Cyprus and complete his permanent transfer to Omonoia FC while Hull prepares for life in the Premier League.
