The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has disowned a viral publication directing prospective constables to report for training on September 18, 2026, describing it as “fake”.
The viral publication, which appeared online recently, directed newly recruited police constables to resume training on September 18 and come along with certain items.
In a statement on Thursday, the police said the notice did not come from the force.
The force asked prospective trainees to disregard the notice and rely only on information provided through their respective recruitment portals and the official communication channels of the police.
“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to state that the said publication is not an official communication of the force and should be disregarded,” the statement reads.
“All prospective trainees are advised to rely solely on information communicated through their respective recruitment portals and the official communication channels of the Nigeria Police Force for verified and authentic updates regarding the recruitment and training exercise.”
The force also urged the public to stop circulating unverified information capable of confusing or misleading prospective recruits.
In August, the Police Service Commission (PSC) handed over the list of 50,000 recruited police constables to the force for subsequent training at colleges and institutions.
The presentation of the list was done at the PSC’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, the country’s capital.
In December 2025, PSC opened the process for recruiting 50.000 constable into the NPF.
