The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine from a courier company in what it described as the largest cocaine seizure from a courier firm in its history.
The agency also arrested two suspects in connection with the consignment, including socialite Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as KC Luxury, and Lawal Kehinde, an employee of a logistics company.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, NDLEA chairman Buba Marwa said the seized cocaine was valued at $27.7 million.
Marwa said the agency collaborated with the management of the logistics company following the seizure, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
He said Nigeria was increasingly being used as a transit hub for illicit drugs destined for the United Kingdom, parts of Europe and Asia.
According to the NDLEA chairman, KC Luxury was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to flee the country.
Marwa said the suspect was found with €7,750, £2,800, N100,000 and expensive jewellery. He added that exotic vehicles were also discovered at the suspect’s luxury apartment in Banana Island, Ikoyi.
“This cartel leader did not walk into our custody voluntarily,” Marwa said.
He said the suspect had planned to leave Nigeria on a business-class flight to Paris on the night of 13 August 2026, following intelligence received by the agency.
“On the night of 13th August 2026, upon credible intelligence that he intended to flee the country on a business-class flight to Paris, our operatives moved decisively and apprehended him at the boarding gate of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, just as he attempted to escape the reach of the law.”
Marwa warned drug traffickers against using wealth, luxury brands or social media influence to conceal their activities.
“To those who believe they can hide behind luxury brands, glamorous lifestyles, and social media personas while trafficking poison into our communities and across our borders, this Agency will find you,” he said.
“It does not matter how well-connected, how wealthy, or how far you attempt to run. As this case demonstrates, we will track you to the departure gate if we must.”
The NDLEA said investigations into the cocaine consignment and the suspects are ongoing.
