Professor Alfred Bandele Kasunmu, SAN, a renowned lawyer, scholar, and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, died at the age of 92.

Kasunmu, a Baptist Academy Class of 1953 graduate and trustee of the Baptist Academy Old Students Association, died peacefully on August 9, 2026.

Olumide Ajomale, the Global President of the Baptist Academy Old Students Association, announced his death in a statement published on behalf of the organization’s National Executive Council.

Ajomale referred to the late legal expert as “a towering figure in law, scholarship, and national development,” highlighting his work as a mentor, scholar, and champion.

“With gratitude to God for a life well spent in service to God and humanity, we announce the passing of our distinguished alumnus, Professor Alfred Bandele Kasunmu, SAN, who departed peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, 9th August 2026, at the age of 92,” the statement read.

The association stated that Kasunmu embodied the values of Baptist Academy, particularly “Integrity, Discipline, and Service,” and was also a cherished patriarch to his family.

It mentioned that it took solace in the life he lived and the numerous people he impacted through his dedication to law, education, and humanity.
