Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has denied claims by musician Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, that he bit him during their recent celebrity boxing rematch.
On Friday, the pair faced off at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos, with Okocha winning after Portable was disqualified for violating the rules by abandoning wrestling skills for punches before exiting the ring.
Following the fight, Portable said that Okocha bit him on the back and locked his neck throughout the fight, and that he should not have competed in such a competition.
During an appearance on TVC Entertainment on Tuesday, Okocha refuted the claim, explaining that he was wearing a mouth guard throughout the battle, which prevented him from biting his opponent.
“Portable has been going around telling people I bit him on the back. I was wearing a mouth guard; how is that even possible? He was just lying,” Okocha said.
The actor also stated that he had no reason to bite the singer.
“I would rather chew grass than bite him. I don’t want to catch rabies. Have you seen how Portable’s skin looks? Hell no, I wouldn’t do that. He should just accept defeat,” he said.
The two entertainers’ most recent boxing match was not their first.
Portable won the championship belt after defeating Okocha in a celebrity boxing match at Landmark Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, in 2023.
Portable also lost another celebrity boxing competition against sketch maker Carter Efe.
After losing, he claimed foul play, claiming his opponent held him by the neck with long arms. He demanded ₦200 million in compensation from the organizers, claiming his wife was in labor while he was in the ring.
