The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned of planned attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State and Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State following the reported collapse of a ceasefire agreement.

A leaked DSS intelligence memo indicates that the planned operations are linked to the breakdown of a ceasefire arrangement between the insurgents and the governments of the two states.

The memo, seen by the news platform, alleged that the terrorists intend to abduct senior government officials, councillors, district heads, pastors and residents in the affected communities.

A DSS source confirmed the intelligence report to TheCable.

The memo stated that the insurgents are also planning to kidnap the district head of Michika and his son at their residence.

It further claimed that the terrorists had already deployed a surveillance team to the area as part of preparations for the planned attacks.

In response to the intelligence, the DSS urged military troops and forest guards to strengthen security measures across the affected communities to prevent the attacks and protect residents.

The reported warning comes amid renewed concerns over insurgent activities in parts of north-east Nigeria despite ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
