The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the operations of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has discovered that the appointment letter given by the council’s self-acclaimed director-general, Adeniyi Adeyemi, was forged.

The committee’s chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, said this on Wednesday at the ongoing investigative hearing in Abuja.

According to Gagdi, the head of the Federation’s Civil Service, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who appeared before the panel for the second time, affirmed that the documents were not legitimate.

“It was established that the so-called letter of appointment was fake, confirmed by different agencies, and the Act presented to the Head of Service was equally fake, forged by the DG; it was established,” Gagdi said.

Walson-Jack appeared before the committee in accordance with its summons to present her final views on the subject.

The Inspector-General of Police was also represented at the hearing by Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi.

However, Adeyemi did not attend the hearing.

On Monday, the committee classified the formation and operation of the alleged council as a severe violation and ordered the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeyemi within 48 hours.

Lawmakers said his appearance was necessary to explain how the council purportedly got official status and processed government correspondence while the probe was ongoing.
