Peggy Ovire, the Nigerian actress, has confirmed the finalisation of her divorce from actor Frederick Leonard, weeks after publicly accusing him of infidelity.
Ovire took to her Instagram Story on Wednesday to share posts celebrating the development.
She reposted a message from a friend that read, “Thank You Jesus. My queen is free,” and followed it with another post stating, “Thank You Jesus. It is done.”
The actress also took to Snapchat on Thursday to share a video of herself with the caption: “Miss Peggy Ovire.”
The confirmation comes after Ovire accused Leonard of having an affair with a married woman and urged him to appear in court for the dissolution of their marriage.
She also claimed that Leonard, despite initiating the divorce proceedings, had failed to appear in court on two occasions, sending his lawyer instead.
Ovire had urged him to attend the next hearing on June 23 so that the marriage could be formally dissolved.
“Married woman oh. Shameless lots. Please don’t avoid coming to customary court on June 23, for the second time,” she had said.
“So-called traditional Igbo man with another Igbo man’s wife who has four children. You ran to a blogger claiming that I was lying, but when you were served and saw the details of my petition, you knew I had seen one out of many. Yet, you refused to show up in court and sent your lawyer instead.
“You said you wanted a divorce, yet you didn’t show up when you were served. Please don’t avoid customary court for the second time on June 23 because I’m coming with receipts, and let’s get this divorce done and dusted, so both of you can finally be together.”
The actors made their relationship public in 2022 before getting married later that year.
