A clash between the Yoruba and Hausa communities heightened tension in the Ojoo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday.
Officials of Operation Burst, the joint security outfit in Oyo State, were reportedly deployed to the area to restore peace between the Hausa and Yoruba warring factions.
Residents have been charged to remain calm, avoid affected locations, and rely on updates from relevant security agencies as efforts continue to contain the situation and prevent further escalation.
During the turmoil, a scavengers‘ depot known locally as “Bolla” was reportedly set on fire.
However, the circumstances surrounding the fire and people responsible for it had not been independently verified at the time of publication.
Security officials have yet to publish an official comment regarding the incident.
