The Niger State Police Command announced that three individuals were killed by suspected terrorists in Pissa village, Borgu Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday that the bandits raided the village at 9:00 a.m.
He said that some houses were set on fire during the attack and that the soldiers battled the bandits, although specifics of the encounter were vague.
“The report received indicated that suspected bandits invaded Pissa village in Borgu LGA.
“Three persons were reportedly killed during the attack, and some houses were set ablaze.
“However, the military responded and engaged the terrorists, but further details are still sketchy,” he said.
The attack occurred after the state government and police denied the initial report of invasion that made schoolchildren in Minna, the Niger State capital, on Wednesday to hurriedly end school sessions and flee to their homes.
Students did not wait for closing time before taking to their heels over fears that bandits may have stormed their schools.
Parents who had heard of a possible terrorist invasion of Minna called their children’s school administrators to confirm whether the report was real and whether schools had been closed for the day.
However, Abiodun informed parents that police were working around the clock to resolve the problem.
According to the report, police officials visited all of the schools indicated in these areas, and no such attack occurred at any of the state’s institutions.
