Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved nearly ₦1 billion to clear outstanding salary arrears and allowances owed to judiciary staff, in what officials describe as a renewed push to strengthen welfare and institutional stability in the justice sector.
The governor made the announcement while receiving the leadership of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Kaduna State chapter, on a courtesy visit at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House. Discussions focused on improving conditions of service and reinforcing the judiciary’s role in democratic governance.
The delegation, led by its chairman, Auwalu Sarki, raised concerns affecting judiciary workers while expressing appreciation for recent government efforts to address long-standing entitlements.
According to details shared during the meeting, the intervention covers two months’ salary arrears from April and May 2021 inherited from the previous administration. It also includes leave grants for 2023, 2024 and 2025, as well as long-outstanding robe and outfit allowances for judicial staff.
Sani commended judiciary workers for their contribution to justice delivery and the maintenance of public confidence in the legal system. He stressed that fair treatment of workers remains central to his administration’s governance approach, despite ongoing fiscal pressures.
He reaffirmed plans to improve staff welfare, upgrade judicial infrastructure, and strengthen collaboration between the executive and the judiciary to enhance justice delivery across Kaduna State.
