Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayodeji Balogun, also known as Wizkid, and Big Wiz, has become the first African artist to reach 11 billion Spotify streams, marking yet another milestone in his global music career.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by music data account @ChaftsAfrica on X (previously Twitter), who named him the first African artist to achieve the milestone.
The post reads, “First African artists to reach major Spotify milestones:
“1 billion — Wizkid, 2 billion — Wizkid,
3 billion—Wizkid, 4 billion—Wizkid,
5 billion — Wizkid, 6 billion — Wizkid,

The milestone occurred only days after Wizkid’s collaboration with DJ Tunez, “State of Mind,” which received over 685,000 Spotify listens on its first day.
Earlier in January, ‘Big Wiz’, as the singer is affectionately known by his devoted fans and industry peers, became the first African artist to surpass 10 billion Spotify streams.
Entertainment executives and fans have praised the milestone as yet another watershed moment for African music in the world.
