The Kano State Government has announced the Eid-el-Kabir holiday break for all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Education, Musbahu Aminu Yakasai.
Day schools will begin their Sallah break on Friday, May 22, 2026, and are expected to resume academic activities on Monday, June 1, 2026.
“Boarding students are expected to begin their holiday on Saturday, May 23, 2026, and return to school on Sunday, May 31, 2026.”
The ministry recommended parents and guardians, particularly those with children in boarding schools, to make suitable arrangements for their children’s pick-up and return on the planned dates.
The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, wished students, teachers, and parents a peaceful and joyful Sallah celebration.
He further emphasized that the break would not disrupt the academic timetable.
The ministry stressed that compliance with the holiday and resumption dates is compulsory for all schools, warning that the government remains committed to completing the school curriculum as scheduled.
