A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued strict bail conditions involving former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in an ongoing case before the court.
Delivering the ruling, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered that the former governor must report to the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) every last Friday of the month by 10 a.m. to sign an attendance register pending the determination of the matter.
The court also granted bail in the sum of ₦100 million with one surety in a like amount, alongside stringent verification requirements.
Under the conditions set, the surety must reside in Maitama or Asokoro in Abuja and provide a Certificate of Occupancy for a landed property to be deposited at the court registry. The surety is also required to be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17, with evidence of salary payments for at least three months, verified through a bank manager’s letter within the court’s jurisdiction.
Further requirements include an affidavit of means, execution of a bail bond, submission of a recent passport photograph, and verification letters from the surety’s department, along with a tax clearance certificate covering the last six months.
The court further ordered the defendant to surrender all valid international passports and directed that a letter of attestation from the Chairman of the Kaduna Traditional Council be submitted as part of the bail process. Any breach of these conditions would lead to automatic revocation of bail.
