Residents in parts of Ogun State will experience a six-hour power outage today after the Transmission Company of Nigeria announced a planned maintenance exercise on its transmission infrastructure.
The power disruption, scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026, will run from 10am to 4pm and affect communities within McPherson, University and Ogunmakin axis.
According to TCN, the outage is linked to maintenance work on the 40MVA 132/33KV power transformer at the McPherson Transmission Substation.
The company said the exercise would temporarily prevent the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company from supplying electricity to customers in the affected areas during the maintenance window.
TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the routine checks are aimed at ensuring the transformer continues to operate efficiently.
“The maintenance exercise is to enable TCN crew to undertake preventive routine checks on the transformer to ensure continued optimal performance. Consequently, IBEDC will be unable to supply electricity to its customers in McPherson, University, and Ogunmakin during the period of the maintenance,” she said.
