Real Madrid fans have launched a viral online campaign calling for the departure of French star Kylian Mbappe after two disappointing seasons without major trophies.
Mbappe joined the Spanish giants in 2024, wanting to win his first UEFA Champions League trophy and cement his place among football’s finest players.
However, Real Madrid has only won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup during his tenure.
Fans’ frustration grew after Mbappé missed a recent match against Espanyol due to injury, and photographs leaked online of the forward vacationing in Italy with actress Ester Expósito.
Although the trip was apparently permitted by the club, several fans protested the timing.
The “Mbappe Out” petition quickly gathered popularity on social media networks.
“Madridistas, make your voice heard. If you believe change is needed, don’t stay silent—sign this petition and stand for what you think is best for the club’s future,” the petition stated, with over 70 million fans signing the petition.
According to sources, the campaign gathered millions of signatures in a short amount of time, despite the fact that participation involves only one click and does not confirm whether signatories are Real Madrid supporters.
Despite the controversy, Mbappé is still one of the club’s most productive players. This season, the French striker has 41 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions, up from 44 goals in 54 matches the previous year.
