Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi have secured the African Democratic Congress’ declaration of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 general elections.

Another presidential candidate, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has also signed the form, promising to prioritize security, job creation, and the growing cost of living that affects millions of Nigerians.

The National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, revealed on Friday that the three hopefuls had already obtained the forms.

“Yes, the three of them (Atiku, Amaechi, and Hayatu-Deen) have obtained the forms,” he said.

The presidential nomination form costs N90 million.

Hayatu-Deen, who received the form from the party’s national organizing secretary, Chinedu Idigo, on Friday, stated that the 2027 election should prioritize restoring economic stability and boosting national security.

In a statement, he stated that Nigerians are experiencing poverty and insecurity.

“Nigerians are tired of living in fear. They are tired of watching businesses struggle, jobs disappear, and the cost of basic necessities rise beyond what ordinary people can afford.

“This election cannot be about politics as usual. It must be about how to secure our communities, rebuild confidence in the economy, create jobs at scale, and make life more affordable for millions of Nigerians.

“We cannot build prosperity in an atmosphere of fear and instability. Security is the foundation upon which every strong economy is built,” he said.

The ADC will sell expression of interest and nomination forms from May 6 to May 13.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, and governorship and state House of Assembly elections for February 6, 2027.

Party primaries and disputes will be resolved between April 23 and May 30, 2026, according to the commission.
