Founder of The Word Assembly Churches, Rev. Isaac Omolehin, has said that Christianity in Nigeria lacks a single unifying father figure, arguing that prominent church leaders operate largely as heads of their respective denominations.

Omolehin made the assertion in a recent sermon shared on the official YouTube channel of his church. A clip of the message has since gone viral on social media.

According to him, while several church leaders are widely respected, none can be described as the father of all Christians in the country.

“I hear people talk about fathers, and I ask myself, which father? Nigerian Christianity has no father,” he said.

Referencing prominent clerics such as Enoch Adeboye, William Kumuyi, and Daniel Olukoya, Omolehin stressed that their influence is limited to their denominations.

“These are respected men of God, but they are denominational leaders. Christianity in Nigeria has no father,” he added.

He argued that a true spiritual father should provide oversight across all denominations rather than focus on institutional expansion or rivalry.

“A father should look after everyone, not just promote denominational agendas or compete over building larger auditoriums or acquiring more assets,” he said.

Omolehin further noted that denominational divisions prevent a unified Christian voice on national issues, emphasizing that a true father figure must transcend boundaries across Roman Catholic, Anglican, Methodist, Apostolic, and other Christian groups.

He concluded by urging greater unity among Christians, stating that denominational differences hold no relevance in eternity.
