Former Chelsea and Arsenal player Jorginho has admitted he was wrong after initially accusing Chappell Roan of being involved in an incident with his stepdaughter, calling the situation a misunderstanding and expressing regret.

The scandal began over a festival weekend in Brazil, when Jorginho alleged that a security guard associated with Roan approached and scared his 11-year-old stepdaughter.

The allegation soon spread online, prompting criticism of the performer.

However, after examining new facts, Jorginho changed his mind. In his response, he recognized that his previous allegation was based on insufficient information.

Jorginho stated on Tuesday, “After learning more about what actually happened, I realize I made a mistake,” according to BBC Sport. “The person involved was not part of Chappell Roan’s team.”

He noted that his original reaction stemmed from parental concern:

“In the moment, I was trying to protect my family, but I spoke too soon without having all the facts.”

Jorginho apologized directly for the impact of his comments, saying, “I regret what was said and any negativity it brought.” This was a misunderstanding, and I want to make that clear.”

Chappell Roan had earlier denied any involvement and expressed sympathy for the incident, stating that she was unaware of the encounter at the time.

Jorginho concluded by encouraging people to move on from the incident.

“There’s no need for hate toward anyone. Now that everything is clear, we can put this behind us.”

The incident, which temporarily sparked an internet outcry, has since been settled, with both parties noting that the uncertainty was caused by incorrect assumptions rather than malicious action.
