Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the ongoing killings in Plateau State.

In a strongly worded post on her official X account, Ezekwesili questioned the conduct of leaders who continue political activities amid widespread violence and loss of lives.

She criticised what she described as indifference by those in power, asking what manner of leaders “feast while their people are being slaughtered” and fail to act decisively in the face of repeated attacks.

The former minister accused the government of responding to mass killings with silence, ineffective statements and “hopeless committee appointments” instead of concrete security action.

President Bola Tinubu consoled a bereaved mother on Thursday after she was seen in a viral video cradling her son's lifeless body following the recent incident in Jos, Plateau State.

Referring to viral images of victims from recent attacks in Jos, she said the blood of innocent citizens rests on leaders who “knew, looked away, and chose a convention hall over a command centre”.

Ezekwesili further warned against what she called a dangerous normalisation of violence in Nigeria, stressing that citizens must reject the idea that Nigerian lives hold little value.

“Our griefs and prayers must become collective fury,” she said, urging Nigerians to channel their anger into demands for accountability and meaningful action.

Her comments come amid heightened tension following fresh attacks in parts of Plateau State, with growing public outrage over the government’s handling of insecurity.
