The mother of a former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, has died.
Her death was disclosed on Friday by her grandson in a post on Facebook.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. From Allah SWT we came, and to Him we shall all return. I would like to inform the public of the demise of my grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away a few hours ago,” he said.
He also stated that the deceased was the biological mother of the former governor and prayed for the repose of her soul.
“We are grateful for the life she lived, and may Allah SWT bless her gentle soul. May He bless the soul of the parents we have lost. On behalf of our family, we seek your prayers. Thank you,” he added.
At the time this report was filed, information on her death was not readily available.
The former Kaduna state governor, who was first arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and is now being held by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, is the subject of continuing judicial procedures.
