MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the date for the unveiling of nominees for the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) 2026 edition.
In a recent Instagram post, the organisers revealed that the nominees will be announced on March 29, 2026.
MultiChoice also named award-winning actor Chimezie Imo as the host of this year’s nominee announcement.
“The spotlight is on… and it’s time to get to know your nominees. Watch the #AMVCA12 Nominee Announcement LIVE | March 29 | 7PM WAT on #AfricaMagic channels,” the post reads.
In January, the organisers opened the call for entries for the 12th edition of the ceremony.
Submissions were accepted from January 11 to February 15, inviting eligible works from filmmakers and content creators across Africa.
MultiChoice stated that the 12th edition will continue its focus on celebrating exceptional African storytelling while highlighting the growth, creativity, and global potential of the continent’s entertainment industry.
The organisers noted that the upcoming edition will be headlined by Don Julio as the lead sponsor, describing the partnership as part of the awards’ evolution into a premium cultural platform celebrating African creativity and craftsmanship.
The 2026 AMVCA will also introduce new categories to expand its indigenous language awards. The ceremony will feature 32 award categories, comprising 18 jury-decided categories, 11 audience-voted categories, two lifetime achievement awards, and one trailblazer award.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to hold in Lagos in May 2026, with further details to be announced in the coming months.
