Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the minister of interior, is rallying women in Ondo State’s 18 local government areas to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election quest ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yetunde Adeyanju, the state’s former commissioner for community development and cooperative services, said this on Friday in Akure during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, a political organization affiliated with the minister.

According to Adeyanju, the group’s women’s wing has been tasked with mobilizing at least 95% of the state’s women in support of the president’s second-term aspiration.

“The congresses are behind us, and we are now focused on mobilizing women across the state for Asiwaju’s re-election in 2027.

“The minister of interior has given the women’s wing a clear target—to ensure that at least 95 percent of women in Ondo State support the president. That is why mobilization efforts are being intensified to ensure no woman is left out,” she said.

She also noted that women were well represented at the national level and praised the president’s efforts to promote women’s inclusion.

In his remarks, the group’s Director-General, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, stated that the organization had regained momentum following recent political problems and was preparing itself for aggressive grassroots mobilization.

According to him, the meeting brought together important stakeholders, including members of the leaders’ council, state executives, the women’s wing, and local government and ward coordinators, to promote internal cohesion and strategic alignment.

He stated that the outfit had created structures in all 203 wards of the state and was expanding its reach to polling stations to solidify support for Tinubu.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the preferred choice, and by God’s grace, we will see him lead Nigeria beyond 2027. In the last election, we secured about 68.9 per cent of the vote in Ondo State. This time, we are targeting 95 percent,” Asagunla said.

Also addressing this, Yele Omogunwa, Chairman of the group’s Leaders Council and former senator representing the Ondo South Senatorial District (2015-2019), stated that the conference was held to examine strategies and reestablish unity following the party congresses.

While expressing satisfaction with the settlement of issues raised by the state congress, Omogunwa criticized the exercise’s execution at the local government level, calling it badly handled.

He did, however, urge members to remain loyal and devoted, warning against divided allegiances and advocating for greater openness and unity inside the organization.
